  1. When was this video made? Most the still shots are the same shots they showed in their reviews from many years past. If you read the bad 1-star reviews (and there are plenty) on Amazon on the winning Bonavita coffee maker, several reviewers say what they paid, and it was at $100 in 2017. According to another reviewer, the coffee maker was already at $149 in 2020. There's no way this coffee maker was $94 in August of 2022. Not surprising. Once again, America's Test Kitchen giving the win to the most expensive products. Higher price doesn't guarantee quality or longevity. It's just a more expensive disposable small appliance, same as all the other expensive plastic pieces of junk American consumers are stuck with.

  6. Yep, like others here say it's really $180. I was looking for something comparable to my aeropress or my French press for coffee quality but that didnt require me to babysit the brew. Not gonna dump that much cash for this though.

  7. You have to do better than this with your timing and accuracy ATK. If you want me to keep clicking on these reviews. $179. Spend a little more on the checker and a little less on the set. We’ll be okay.

  17. I had that coffee maker and in about 4 years was replaced once by the manufacturer and then just recently went out again. I also paid almost $200 for it. Made great coffee but poor build quality. Can’t use the carafe to fill the machine unless you attached the lid, can’t pour without it otherwise it makes a mess. Upgraded to the technivorm mochamaster and makes the best coffee ever. Worth the $300

  18. I disliked the video for the same reason everyone else – the $99.00 coffee maker is now $179.00 – y'all need to do your homework before posting these – still love the channel though!

  22. Bonavita is poorly built,I had two that failed, the first one would not shut off and was replaced under warranty. The second one stopped working all together and just past warranty and Bonavita would not replace it.There is no service center available for repair, they do not stand behind their products.Stay clear of Bonavita.Paid $139 on Amazon 8 years ago so IDK where they got it for $94.Wrong.
Tap water? Remember lousy water = lousy coffee no matter how good the maker is.

  23. Have had the Bonavita for about a year. It makes good coffee but is cumbersome and inconvenient to use. You have to screw the lid on after it brews, it wont fit back in the holder with the lid on, the carafe is rather weak in keeping the coffee warm. I REALLY miss our OXO 9-cup coffee maker which is better in all ways

  25. ATK doesn't even include Bonavita in their latest testings because the company is in such turmoil. It's an odd choice to post such an old, outdated video which features prices and coffee makers from several years ago.

  26. Bonavita is a lot more than 100$

I have one. It’s great. Highly recommended. Caveat. They no longer make it. So Amazon resellers may be adjusting the price up.

  34. We bought the Bonavita and while it made great coffee the on/off switch stopped working on our unit. We returned it for a replacement but after awhile the same issue happened again. We opted for a Cuisinart coffee maker and have not had any problems with its operation

  35. There is NO WAY that coffee maker is below $100.00. On Amazon and EBay it is well over $150.00.. ATK is known for honest, reliable information and content. This is nothing like that and it is completely misleading . Very surprised at this slipshod ATK recommendation. Take the video down, please. It is not up to ATK standards.

  38. I have the Cuisanart grind and brew model. The previous one lasted for many years. I talked with a lady at a hotel who started her own coffee company and she gave me great tips to make sure it taste great in each cup! She recommends you clean the parts with just water and no soap and then the carafe soap and water. The reason being is that the oils from the beans that get stuck on the plastics really affect the flavor. If you remove them, the coffee will taste very acidic. I won’t be going back. My coffee has never tasted better.

  40. So curious. All we want is a high quality coffee maker we can set to auto brew. Live in a 2 story house. Do not want to walk downstairs at 6:00 am to start a coffee maker. We’ve had a Cuisinart, find and brew nightmare to clean. 2 expensive Capressos that didn’t last. Now onto a Ninja because we can program it. Sadly weak brew. Any recommendations for a reasonably priced either grind and brew, or just a good quality brew with an automatic setting? Thanks!

  41. Bonavita has never been under $100. I bought one several years ago and it was over $100. It was a very good machine and when it started to fail, the company appeared to disappear, so I went with the OXO. Good to seen Bonavita is back.

  50. If you call up Moccamaster US (their $300 pick), they have a really good selection of refurbished machines you can get for a screaming deal. And amazing customer service.

Besides my bed, my coffee maker is probably the only thing in my house I use every day. Plus, it's probably something you could leave to your grandkids. Would recommend the splurge.
